Ironically, I live 1/2 mile away from Langston Hughes Elementary. He lived here in Lawrence, Kansas as a child for about 5 years, so our city feels connected to him. I can only hope that his book of poems for kids is in their curriculum or at least in their library. I'll have to ask my friends who have children who went there if they have any recollection of it.
