Over the past few years, because I finally realized the truth I thought was truth might actually be fiction, I have come to understand the difference between equity and equality. This is one of your best videos so far and I just add it to my resources of trying to understand all the things I’ve been missing. Everything you describe is true about white Christians and all the ways we have written our own narratives to make us feel better. Going to mission camps with my teenage son as a chaperone, there was always an underlying feeling, whether we verbally expressed it or not, that we were swooping in to save the day. Somehow it made us feel better about ourselves and we could pat ourselves on the back. We truly wanted to minister but the way we processed it was through our privilege. We were in a park in St. Louis showing up to play with kids. I will never forget a black woman who brought her grandchild to play. As I was talking to her, she saw right through me. Suspiciously questioning my motive almost. She would recite poetry that I’m sure she wrote. She did an acrostic with Mother that I had her write down and I have it in a frame Thank you again for educating me in so many ways.
