Every one of these steps are great to read, but the 'honestly assess' part of the first step feels relevant today. It's also a rainy day with lots of flowery gardens leaning across fences into the sidewalks... so a perfect day to read this!

I save every email, but I haven't checked in here in a while- I hope things are well, with just the right kinds of rain to nurture your inner garden.

Thank you for this Marcie. My dear son just put a rain garden in our yard. Toil and toil. It is much work and is doing what rain gardens are supposed to do. It takes much patience, planning and tending to create this space. Such a good metaphor for our own heart work in this world.

Love all of this so much--especially that last quote from Julian of Norwich. My mom had written it so many times in her journals throughout her battle with Alzheimer's it holds a special place in my heart.

I haven’t built one of these yet, but I hope to someday. Our conservation district builds a lot of these.

I hope the rain garden of your soul gets filled up with fresh living water & you flourish!

“But I do have this body and honestly, I’m hopeful that what is true for the earth is true for it as well.” Zing! Gorgeous.

This is beautiful, as is all your writing! We must all cultivate our gardens, our imaginations, and make space for the Holy Spirit. Love the Passion Translation of James 5:7-8. I was also fascinated by the painting you featured and did a google link search and read about it. You probably already know this, it is not on view at the moment, but is right there in your Chicago Institute of Art! Those Easter baskets and what I can imagine might be happening in this scene is very poignant. I recommend everyone highlight and right click to read about this artwork.
