Hello, Friend!
It’s Monday, so… inspired by on one of my favorite bits of the Bible, let’s start every week off with a little bit of whatever’s good and noble in the world. Here are a few excellent and noteworthy things I’m seeing and loving right now.
*Paid subscribers, please feel free to share in the comments whatever is good that you’re seeing in the world as well.
Blessings,
Marcie
WHATEVER IS TRUE…
Hear to Slay: Fat is Not a Feeling, Season 2, Episode 38
Fat is not a feeling is such an important truth that cookbook author, Julia Turshen shared during her interview with podcast hosts Tressie McMilliam Cotton and Roxane Gay. This spoke to my core. Turshen shared: “I had limited myself to two feelings my entire life. I realized I had only ever felt happy or fat. Little did I know that ‘fat’ wasn’t even a feeling.”
She actually learned this from her therapist who actually suggested that she get a feeling chart so she could begin to communicate her true feelings rather than her insecurities. By the way, old is not a feeling either.
If you’re needing to better get in touch with your feelings and communicate them, here’s a chart that I love: The Feelings Circle

Hi Marcie - Only read part of these, but was drawn to J. Drew Lanham video and book. I am so excited! I watched the video and other two previous ones of his. Did you know he has a book just released April 15, 2021 called "Sparrow Envy?" This week is Migration Madness in CT - an Audubon thing where we count as many bird species as we can. I'm not an avid birder, but learning. (I'm more up on things I can see in a microscope, hence my Instagram name "Microbenut".) This is my burning question too - how can we engage more people of diverse backgrounds in exploring nature and engaging in conservation efforts? I just recently joined a committee on a conservation board to explore this and other questions of bias and environmental justice. Any thoughts?
I also enjoyed the Church Hat video. A lot! Also, thanks for sharing the article Learning for justice. I’m looking forward to checking out Hi-Ho Kids and the Chronicle Books. ❤️
