I'm so glad you received today's inspiration in real time while resting and enjoying your family and a blessed Easter Sunday! 🌷 I enjoyed Jen's podcast and look forward to the musical about Jamie. We love musicals here too! 🌞 LOVE LOVE LOVE Being There, oh my goodness that movie never gets old it's absolute genius! 🥰
The Wizard of Oz (favorite for sure), Wicked (would like to see this one up close, we were very far back the one and only time - the book it was based on was great), Jesus Christ Superstar (seen several times and love how each production is different), Godspell (our kids first live theatre and John the Baptist in an neon green suit entered on a huge fabric slide from the dome at Casa Manana - what a moment!), The Lion King (having a giraffe walk by me in the aisle, wow), Fiddler on the Roof, Hamilton (finally saw live a couple months ago❤),The Sound of Music (saw as a girl in the movie theatre and was transfixed 😁), My Fair Lady (movie), Funny Girl, Funny Lady, Peter Pan (the kids loved too - always a treat when the players come out aerially), Les Miserable (this one grew on me, I cry almost everytime I hear I Dreamed a Dream), I could go on, but you get the idea. Musicals are magic!
It is never too late for good seats!!! Maybe we'll get lucky and they will make it into a movie w/ original cast (I realize they would need to have already recorded it, but who knows, fingers crossed)...
This was a super encouraging surprise to read monday. I listened to the podcast and felt so seen and heard. Thanks for this, all of it. It felt really good while I have been in a strange in between place for several years with church and that others inside and outside the church were talking together about or cared and saw that in between place alleviated some of the group power of not seeing or not acknowledging, that common silence that makes one weary regardless even when you believe and trust that God wants you to be where you are. Just to to see them so curious and open and noticing was beautiful. Thanks for this.
I absolute know that “common silence that makes one weary….” That’s a truly vulnerable expression and helpful for me in my own feelings. Thank you for that Matthew.
I love this edition of Monday Whatevers. I’m still thinking about it a month later. I was a subscriber over on Patreon, too and I thought of this when you said you needed to stop and heal. This one felt like you really got to take care of yourself.
We recently left the religion of our whole lives because we realized that it’s inherent flaws are growing, not changing. I love musicals and theater, and my kids have them on a running Spotify playlist. And you mentioned Being There, which I have not really watched, but for family reasons need to! Oh, and way back when my husband and I bonded over Roger Ebert reviews.
I’m glad I can still subscribe here on Substack. Thank you.
grateful for you
Grateful for your presence thank you
