Thank you for this essay. There are times I have wanted to disengage, because I feel hopeless about the state of our politics and it feels “dirty” to support people who seem so corrupt and at odds with my values. I had planned to vote this election especially because of the high stakes of Trump’s policies, but you reminded me/us that our ancestors fought and died for this right and responsibility— and that they didn’t have ideal candidates either. We can’t make change if we don’t stay engaged.
Thank you for this Marcie. As always, your content and voice challenges me to think deeper and wider about complex topics. I truly hope those thinking to sit this election out will consider the ramifications of another Trump/MAGA presidency that likely would extend far past a 4 year term.
Marcie, thank you. I get that we've been stuck with a dysfunctional two-party system for too long. I get that it's virtually impossible for most of us to "see ourselves" in our leaders. But there are far more effective ways to work for change than to not vote. The way I see it, this year more than ever, not voting is effectively a vote for fascism. We don't need more people doing less to make their dissatisfaction known. We need more people doing more. So grateful to you for raising your voice.
this was so powerful for me. Thank you for "f*cking" with the time to write it. To express so many thoughts. I shared it with my almost 18 yr old who has stated an intention not to vote.
Most of us white women did not know about Fannie Lou Hamer, because we were never taught or deemed it necessary to learn the history of voting rights. But, we know now. The education we have received from you and numerous others, gives us a moral obligation to vote. The future of our children and grandchildren are at stake. Your fears are my fears.
Excellent content. I hope all the Cardi Bs out there read it and reconsider their position.
I doubt she’s open to anything anyone has to say but one can hope.

Oh wow that was powerful.
Holy shit, I've never seen all of the Project 2025 goals written out before. Thank you for your always spot-on analysis.
It’s freaky to read the whole thing. Terrifying.

Wow. An almost 18 yr old. That’s a rough age for parenting. They’re so amazing and scary at the same time
Wow. Thanks for this. Too much at stake for us all to not vote. Keeping these talking points on hand.
