I just started watching Golden Girls again!!! There was pop-up restaurant here this summer. It looked just like their kitchen and served different kinds of cheesecakes.
Love this!! Needed this!! Gilmore Girls, insecure, to all the boys I’ve loved before, and every thanksgiving John and I rewatch all the old friends thanksgiving episodes 🦃
You and I are so alike. Gilmore Girls--check. At anytime in my home someone might be watching Gilmore Girls. To All The Boys I've Love Before is so dang darling and the first time I watched it with GenZers that I love. I made them dinner and we watched by candlelight. One of my best memories. I have to admit that I haven't revisted Friends eventhough I like the show. I'm going start with the Thanksgiving episodes.
Oh my gosh, Marilyn-- Call the Midwife is so wonderful. I cry every single time I watch it. It's just so beautifully done. Have you watched All Creatures Great and Small? A similar realness and charm.
"Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris" is such a delight! A long-time favorite of which I never tire is "The Princess Bride". On Netflix, I have thoroughly enjoyed "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and I recently watched and really liked "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar", a Wes Anderson Adaptation of a Roald Dahl story. And anything with Lucille Ball or Carol Burnett gets me in stitches every time!
The Princess Bride!!!! Love. And I'm a huge Wes Anderson fan, and have Henry Sugar in my watchlist. I will look into Extraordinary Attorney Woo. I just love the name. I grew up on Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball. I hadn't thought to watch old episodes but now I will!
Some of my go to favs: Jane the Virgin (Netflix, Amazon, Google Play, and Vudu); Our Flag Means Death (Max - though season 2 is a bit darker than season 1); Reservation Dogs (Hulu)
All of these!!! Yess!!!! I started Jane the Virgin and never finished it. This was pre-pandemic. I will have to revisit it. I freakin' love Our Flag Means Death and I'm so glad that you mentioned it. I haven't watched season 2 yet, but I tend to like dark things. Have you watched One Piece? Soooo good. I think you'd like it if you like Our Flag Means Death. And Reservation Dogs is one of my all time favorite TV series.
Oh my gosh, I'm going through your lists and we actually own a lot these 80s movies on DVD. We can't bear to part with them. I can't wait to watch Rye Lane. I'd never heard of it. Thank you.
Finding Nemo is the movie Max and I watched over and over again--at least once a week when it was just the two of us! It has a special place in my heart.
I woke up with a few more recommendations on the brain:
Animated movies:
BOLT (especially for those who love dogs/cats & comedy)
FINDING NEMO
And I forgot to say that LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY (currently on Apple TV) is especially suited for those who love science, COOKING, and dogs. The characters are well developed & beautifully human.
Love these suggestions and have enjoyed several of them again and again. The Wizard of Oz never gets old and I'm living for the Wicked movie. We love to watch Tombstone at our house and enjoy knowing most all of the dialog.
I'm adding a couple tv shows that I save on my DVR for when the world is feeling too crazy and I need to find a little peace. Magnolia Network's The Lost Kitchen and HGTV's Home Town both feel thoughtful, uplifting and calming.
I think you'll love The Lost Kitchen, it is a very special and unusual restaurant; the owner, Erin French, has a great personal story that comes full circle in her home town of Freedom, Maine. I loved La Pitchoune: Cooking in France. The guests and their interactions, cooking and being in France, what a dream. The show Julia on HBO Max is very good too if you want more about Julia Child. I did not want it to end and it was a good deep dive on how she came to be on PBS and how society functioned at that time. Speaking of that, I can't wait to watch Lesson in Chemistry on Apple, it was a great read, so I'm hopeful they do it justice. You sum Home Town up perfectly, it is a beautiful way to love others, maybe that is why it is so calming to me.
I am obsessed with the show Julia. I love Julia Childs and love the show. I loved the book Lessons in Chemistry but couldn't get into the show but you're the second person to recommend it so I'm going to try it again.
I'm glad you've like Julia, I am looking forward to the next season. I haven't actually watched Lessons in Chemistry yet, so I may agree w/ you when I do. It makes me happy they tried though.
Me too and I'm sure I will try watching it again because I just fell in love with the book--and there are very few charming series out there these days.
Two of my comfort favorites (besides Abbott Elementary!) are Golden Girls and The Great British Baking Show.

And we adore GBB. I'd watch Noel host a show about paint drying. I adore him.

I love Insecure so much that I haven't finished it because it makes me sad to think that it'll be over.
I second The Great British Baking Show! But I always enjoy Call the Midwife. Every time I watch it I discover I’m smiling!

I recently rewatched The Princess Bride, and Fried Green Tomatoes.
Fried Green Tomatoes!!!! I used to watch it on repeat!
Beautiful episode. You already named some of my all-time faves:
*INTERSTELLAR we’ve watched in our home at least 8 times. I never tire of it.
ABBOTT ELEMENTARY is so refreshing
EXTRAORDINARY ATTORNEY WOO (We watched in the original Korean with subtitles & again with the English dubbed version)
ELF (at Christmas time)
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY (currently on Apple TV)
STILL UP (currently on Apple TV)
TED LASSO
If you found Ted Lasso comforting, have you watched Welcome to Wrexham?
You and I have a similar watchlist!
I have not watched WELCOME TO WREXHAM, but I will look it up immediately & add to our watch list. Thank you!
Finding Nemo is the movie Max and I watched over and over again--at least once a week when it was just the two of us! It has a special place in my heart.
It holds a tender place in my heart as well.

I have to try Lessons in Chemistry again. I loved the book!!! Maybe too much.
My sister and I have an embarrassing penchant for Hallmark Christmas movies. And BBC Ghosts makes us and the kids laugh out loud.
BBC Ghosts!!!! We devoured that show!!! It’s was so human and beautiful. Never watched the American version. The BBC just can’t be beat.
I feel just the same. I can’t imagine anything better 🥰 ‘Ooooh she’s a fancy flapjack!’ 😆😆
Have you seen the bloopers on YouTube? I cried with laughter.
No!!! I'm doing that today. Thank you

Same on the Wizard of Oz and I can’t wait for Wicked!!!
I saw Tombstone years ago. I need to revisit it.

I love Chip & Joanna. I have The Lost Kitchen in my watchlist. Did you watch La Pitchoune: Cooking in France? It’s part of Magnolia too!
And Home Town—I love Erin & Ben! What a beautiful way to love others by revitalizing homes!

It's been pretty good! I feel it might have been reimagined somewhat. I worry about my memory sometimes, like did I miss all this, lol.
I also wondered if you've seen Growing Floret on HBO Max? It's a great story too!
I haven't but I want to see it. I will add it!!! Thank you
