Fabrice Monteiro – Magic Mirror on the Wall
“In America, separate is never equal, and never can or will be. Show me the one place where the black school in town has the same as the white school. I’ve looked at the data. It doesn’t exist. The black school will always have less. That is racial caste, it is not incidental; it is not accidental. We have a system set up to privilege white children at the expense of black children.”

True story cause you can’t make this stuff up and who would want to?
My mother got pregnant in her parents kitchen in Boomer, West Virginia. Right there on top of the linoleum counter my mother got busy while her parents nodded off, I imagine, while watching the evening news. She was strategic and a little desperate to do something more with her life. So she seduced a boy who was visiting family from up North and had his own car. He was also her best friend’s boyfriend. But that didn’t matter. As I said, she was desperate not for love but for a way out the Jim Crow south.
