Friends, I was so excited to share last week’s bible study, The Souls of the Prayers of Black Folks, that I completely forgot that it was the beginning of the month. Every first Wednesday of the month, instead of a study or lesson, I hope to present a practice. So though it comes late this month, I hope you can find a quiet time and space to lean in and begin (although a week late) February’s practice. Light a candle, maybe. Take a deep inhale. Hold it for one heartbeat and then exhale. This month, we practice Lectio Divina with Poetry.
This is the difficult miracle of Black poetry in America: that we persist, published or not, and loved or unloved: we persist.
