I am so very grateful for each and every one of you. Whether you are a paid or free subscriber, it doesn’t matter – I mean, I do this for a living, but mostly I do this for the community. I want to see humanity live and breathe in words. Thank you for indulging me.
I’ve been scrambling for the perfect Christmas gift for you and nothing seemed fitting. You certainly don’t need more words from me. So what would be good? What would bring you brightness and maybe lift you a bit? And what decadently Black and beautiful thing could I find and wrap up and send to you this season?
Well, I think I found the best and most wonderful thing…
I found a small, 15-minute documentary created by Nikki Giovanni for her friend Toni Morrison. These women have most inspired me as a writer. In the documentary, they are at the apex of their human experience. Both of them are silver-haired, luminous and quick-witted! I hope you find some time to watch and be encouraged.
Yes, we have some dark days ahead of us, but life is more than some dark days. Light is always in abundance.
